IV Annual International Conference on Investment Attraction to Automotive Component Industry - AutoInvest

On 15-16 February 2010 in the Hotel «Park Inn Pribaltiyskaya», the first event of the year in Russian automotive industry - IV Annual International Conference on Investment Attraction to Automotive Component Industry - AutoInvest was held.

For the fourth year AutoInvest gathers representatives of all key players in the industry, regional authorities, industry associations, OEM, manufacturers of automotive components and experts. In 2010 more than 200 participants from 15 countries and 11 regions of Russia visited AutoInvest.

Main topics of discussions were: macroeconomic and development of automotive branch, concept of the development of the automotive industry and modern materials in Russia until 2020, strategy for improving of the competitiveness of local suppliers, investment platforms of Russia. During the discussion experts concluded that the automotive cluster of St. Petersburg will be at the leading position in the domestic automotive industry in a few years: it is planned that by 2014 factories of St. Petersburg and Leningrad region will produce more than 800 thousand cars annually. Considering the growth of the market, total investments in Russian automotive cluster in 2-3 years could range from 12 to 15 billion euros. Serious steps for investors support will be implemented from the side of Government. Thus, administration of St.Petersburg is now reviewing the package of tax privileges for investors of automotive industry, in the direction of a possible increase of benefits and reducing the threshold level of investment.

Among the key speakers of AutoInvest 2010 were: M.Oseevsky, Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg; G. Dvas, Vice-Governor of Leningrad region; M.Blokhin, Executive Director of the National Association of Automotive Component Manufacturers (NAPAK); S.Bodrunov, Coordinator of the Industrial Council of St. Petersburg; F.Hosaka, General Director of Nissan Manufacturing Rus, A.Pantiukhov, General Director of Nokian Tires; L.Kuznetsov, Director of Strategic Development, GAZ Group and many others.

During the conference discussion of the Government program of development of the automotive industry until 2020 took place. Special attention was paid to the development of automotive industry in North-West Federal District. The main outcome of this discussion will form the basis of the Concept of development of automotive industry in the North-West Federal District.
Except plenary sessions and discussions, diverse program of the Conference included a master-class "Tax, customs and transactions aspects of doing business in the automotive sector in Russia" and Practical Seminar "Nanotechnologies in the automotive industry".

Within the frameworks of the conference the II International Specialized Exhibition «AutoInvest 2010» was held. In the section "Investment areas of Russia" Administrations of the Leningrad, Vologda, Kaluga regions presented possibilities of theirs regions to create automotive components industries and technology parks. In the section "Latest technology and equipment" such companies as AP & T, Krauss Maffay, MIT, and many others presented their developments.

Special attention was paid to opportunities for business and the implementation scheme of the state program for auto recycling with an excursion to the auto recycling factory.

On 17-18 February 2011 in St. Petersburg will be held a V Anniversary Annual International Conference on investment attraction to automotive component industry - AutoInvest 2011. Main topics for discussion will be the state and main trends in the global automotive industry, prospects for the development of the automotive market in Russia.
