Northern Dimension Business Council

THE NORTHEN DIMENSION POLICY
The Northern Dimension covers a broad geographic area ranging from the European Arctic and Sub-Arctic areas to the southern shores of the Baltic Sea, including the countries in its vicinity and from North-West Russia in the east to Iceland and Greenland in the west.

GOALS:
• Providing a common platform for promoting dialogue and concrete cooperation;
• Strengthening stability, well-being and  economic cooperation;
• Promoting economic integration and competitiveness;
• Preventing the emergence of new dividing lines in Europe as a result of the EU enlargement.

ACTORS:
The Northern Dimension Policy is a joint initiative of the European Union, Iceland, Norway and Russia.

SUPPORT OF ACTIVITY:
The International Financing Institutions:
• The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development;
• The European Investment Bank;
• The Nordic Investment Bank;
• The World Bank.

NORTHERN DIMENSION BUSINESS COUNCIL IS:
• An informal association of the representatives of the industrial and business community  from North-West Russia and Nordic Countries;
• The advisory body on economic and business cooperation issues for the meetings of the "Northern Dimension" senior officials;
• A platform for discussion and regular dialog between business communities of the Northern Dimension member-states.

THE MAIN DIRECTIONS OF ACTIVITY:
• Promotion of cooperation and investments between the North-West Federal District of the Russian Federation and Nordic countries in the priority areas: transport and logistics, energetics, ecology, forest industry etc.
• Establishment of contacts between business communities and searching for partners in the Northern Dimension Policy member-countries.
• Development of business activity in the region and as a result increasing competitiveness  of "Northern Dimension" region in the whole.
• Exchange of experience, knowledge and views between the business community`s representatives of the Northern Dimension countries.
• The joint solution of the common social-economic problems.
• Elaboration of proposals for the meetings of the Northern Dimension`s senior officials aimed at the improvement of mutual trade conditions and investments, business cooperation and partnership.
